Irma Gianni

Instructor, Hospitality & Hotel Management

"Lead and support your staff with respect and they will respect and support you."

Irma Gianni has more than 20 years of hotel experience. She graduated from New York City Technical College with a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management. Throughout her college experience, she worked as a reservations agent at Hotel St. Moritz and completed an internship abroad at the five-star Forte Village Resort in Sardinia, Italy.

Irma has more than 12 years of Hotel Sales & Marketing experience at The Michelangelo Hotel, owned by the Italian hotel chain, Starhotels. This included time as a guest service agent at The Michelangelo’s sister property, Starhotels Tourist, in Milan. At the New York property, she increased the number of holiday parties, built strong business relationships with pharmaceutical companies and medical meeting planners, and developed the hotel’s upscale international sales with her fluency in three languages: Spanish, Italian and French.

She is currently a middle school culinary instructor for the New York City Department of Education and received the Award of Excellence for Outstanding Leadership from the New York Coalition for Healthy School Food in 2012. In 2013, Irma began training newly hired school food lunch helpers and managers and became a School Food Training Developer. Meeting and training new employees in the five boroughs piqued her interest in teaching and a speaking engagement at the Institute of Culinary Education propelled Irma to become a full-time instructor.

Irma teaches Hotel Sales & Marketing Management and Food & Beverage Management at ICE. She is now pursing a master’s degree in executive leadership in hospitality management at Monroe College in New Rochelle, New York.
