Amidst fires throughout Los Angeles, here is information about current ICE Los Angeles campus operations for students and faculty, many of whom have been affected by the events of the last 48 hours and continue to face uncertainty.
Though ICE LA is in Pasadena, our campus is not currently under evacuation orders or in a designated evacuation zone. Gusty winds and smoky air are impacting the area, however. Please take precautions should you decide to come to campus.
- ICE LA’s campus is currently open, and classes are ongoing. Absences that occur the week of January 6 through January 10 will not be counted and will not require makeup classes. (In short, classes missed between Monday and Friday, January 6 - 10, will not be held against you academically.)
- For students who miss class(es) during the above indicated week, additional skills classes and workshops will be scheduled at a future date. These are not makeup classes and are not required. They are optional and voluntary.
- Starting Monday, January 13, ICE will resume its standard attendance policy (unless conditions change).
- If you are a student who has been impacted by the fires, contact Dean of Students Chef Herve Guillard at HGuillard@ice.edu and Assistant Dean of Students Morgan Geyer at MGeyer@ice.edu to let them know. Together, we will work to identify and provide support measures.
The city of Pasadena has confirmed that the water in our section of the city grid is safe for consumption, dishwashing and cooking. We are in touch with the city and we will inform you of any developments.
We are monitoring the news and air quality alerts in real time, and we will update this page if and when conditions change. Please remain connected – as you are able – to your Chef-Instructors, and let them know your status, if it should change.
