ICE Students to Compete in Almost Famous Chef Competition
Tie on an apron and sharpen those knives because ICE’s very own Joseph Margherita and Daniel Tighe will be going up against fellow top culinary school students in this year’s S. Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef competition.
The contest, which will be held at ICE on February 3rd as the northeast regional competition, will pit Margherita and Tighe against students from The Culinary Institute of America, The French Culinary Institute and Lincoln Culinary Institute – Hartford.
Eighty students nation-wide are vying for the grand prize, which includes $10,000 cash and an offer for a position to work with a nationally recognized chef for one year. Margherita will be competing with “Angello Perduto in Sicilia” (A Lamb Lost in Sicily), which consists of roasted lamb loin with orange and fennel “caponata,” fregula with guanciale, fava bean salad and cippolini agro dolce sauce. Tighe will compete with Slow Cooked Rabbit with Tasso and Leek Stuffing, a Duo of Carrots and Turnips, Creamy Potatoes with NY Cheddar and Applejack Jus. Best of luck to both ICE competitors!
