The Great Gathering of Chefs 2011

Yesterday, more than 150 chefs came together in New York City to celebrate food at The Great Gathering of Chefs.

The party was a benefit for Action Against Hunger (ICE President Rick Smilow is on the Board of Advisors of this international food relief agency) as well as the launch of the books Salad and Pies by renowned food photographer Battman. The books feature photos of dishes from celebrated chefs such as Eric Ripert, Alexandra Guarnaschelli, Michael White, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Michael Laiskonis, Emeril Lagasse, Daniel Boulud and Nobu Matsuhisa, just to mention a few. ICE Director of Student Affairs Andy Gold contributed a beautiful dish to Salad. At the event, guests mingled with the master chefs and sampled cuisine during an extraordinary tasting with 20 of the best restaurants in New York including Nobu, Landmarc, Boulud Sud, Aureole, Gilt, Spice Market, Buddakan, Negril Village, Ai Fiori and The Hurricane Club. ICE students volunteered to work alongside the chefs as they prepared sample versions of their dishes. It was not only a great chance to meet some of the most prominent chefs in the country, but also get some invaluable experience at a notable food industry event.
