Biography

Since opening his first restaurant, Joseph’s Table, in 2000 in Taos, NM, Joseph Wrede has accrued considerable praise. In 2000, Food & Wine named him one of America’s Ten Best New Chefs, while The Taos News had named him Best Chef in its Best of Taos County issue almost every year since 2001. The newspaper also awarded Joseph’s Table Best Restaurant in 2006. Wrede traveled to Japan and Mexico to expand his culinary horizon and find new sources of inspiration. Other awards he has earned include the Distinguished Restaurants of North America’s DiRoNA Award of Excellence and the AAA Four-Diamond Award. After closing Joseph’s Table in 2010, Wrede and his family to Santa Fe, where he took the helm of the Palace Restaurant & Saloon, and then Tomme. In 2013, Wrede launched Joseph’s in Santa Fe, and has garnered praise once again for his signature eclectic cuisine.
